Sweet Corn Flavored Toppo (トッポ)
Best Supermarket Snacks from Japan
Corn and chocolate is a unique combination that I would not have expected. But, sweet corn flavored Toppo are awesome! (if you like corn, that is.) Toppo (トッポ) are thin pretzel biscuit sticks usually filled with a chocolate cream. In this case, the chocolate inside is actually corn flavored, creating a sensation of eating sweet creamed corn inside a crunchy biscuit stick. This Toppo x Tomoriko mashup is a winner!
Inside each box are two individually wrapped packets of Toppo sticks. Perfect for sharing or saving one for later! There are about 10 – 12 sticks per packet.
As soon as you open the packet you are hit with the scent of corn-filled goodness. Warning: If you don’t like corn, this is not the snack for you. If you do like sweet corn, you will LOVE this treat.
Toppo’s pretzel biscuit sticks have a nice crunch, surrounding the creamy chocolate inside. This is an easy snack to eat while you’re on the go since you don’t have to worry about your hands getting messy! The inside is a yellow chocolate cream that takes like sweet corn with a super subtle hint of cheesiness to it. Toppo is a well-known Japanese snack produced by LOTTE, and Tomoriko are another favorite snack made by Calbee. This cross-brand mashup is a creation of LOTTE & Calbee’s joint “Funny/Weird Research Institute” – an experiment in hybrid snack development to find fun new flavors!
