Corn Soup Flavor Polinky
Best Supermarket Snacks from Japan
Super satisfying crunch meets a mouthful of sweet corn flavor. Corn Soup Flavor Polinky are probably my favorite Japanese supermarket snack of all time! These little 3D puffed corn triangles are light and airy. Pop one in your mouth, and you’ll be impressed by the perfect balance of sweet and savory. Polinky are dusted in a light, slightly salty powder that compliments their creamed corn aftertaste. Made from a base of corn grits, Polinky remind me of Corn Chex cereal. But, with extra flavor and the sweetness of a can of creamed corn.
You can also try them in Cod Roe Flavor.
Polinky - Since 1990!
For over 30 years snackers around the world have enjoyed Polinky! This Japanese snack first hit stores in 1990. A corn-flavored variety has always existed, but Koike-Ya tried other varieties including beef flavor. Today Polinky is also produced in Taiwan, but under license and quality control of the main Koike-Ya company in Japan. Koike-Ya was established in 1953, and the company released their first savory snacks in 1962: a nori salt flavored potato chip.
Polinky is not only the name of this snack, but the little triangle mascots are also called Polinkies. In a classic demonstration of athrophmorism, Koike-Ya brings their little Polinkies to life on the Polinky 30th anniversary website: in short animations, coloring pages and more.
