Lay’s Bubble Chips: Lactobacillus Soda Flavor from China

Open up the bag, and you’ll get a slight, surprising lemony-citrus scent. It was both intriguing and a turn-off. Texture-wise, the chips felt like a standard Lay’s potato chip. But, put one in your mouth, and you will feel a slight tingling sensation! It really does lightly mimic the sensation of soda bubbling on your tongue. Very cool! The flavor was much less appealing. First I tasted a sweetness, followed by a flavor that I cannot exactly pinpoint. Honestly, I found it very unappealing and slightly nauseating. The unique mouth feel makes you want to keep eating, but with each chip the flavor worsened. Other friends did not mind the chip flavor as much. Disclaimer: The ingredient list does include aspartame as a sweetener, and I really dislike the flavor. This probably influences my review of the flavor. 

Main Takeaway: The sparkling water / fermented yogurt drink combination is a winner in beverage form, but I don’t think the flavor translated well into a chip. But, the bubbly sensation is really cool!
